Most students have a specific set of requirements in mind when searching for their “ideal” master’s degree. Some place a lot of emphasis on the university’s location or global reach, while others believe that one of the most crucial variables to take into account is university culture, teaching strategies, or research opportunities. Undoubtedly, a university’s rating is a significant influence in drawing interested students, and Maastricht University benefits from this as well. In terms of rankings and accreditations, it is clear that UM competes with other prominent business schools from across the world. Did you know that the SBE holds a certification that, globally, only a select few universities can claim? Continue reading to discover additional advantages of earning an SBE Master’s degree.

Rankings of universities can help students by allowing them to analyze complex information following predetermined criteria by condensing detailed measurements into a series of ordinal numbers. Benchmarks for student satisfaction, research quality, the teaching environment, employment opportunities, and many other factors are taken into consideration in this process.

Universities can also be categorized by their accreditation status. Rankings and accreditations share similarities; accreditations are provided to universities based on a variety of factors. A university can only become accredited if it satisfies high standards for all of the requirements, not just one, and does so consistently. In addition to national distinction, UM and SBE also enjoy international recognition.

Keuzegids Rankings and Accreditations

Dutch universities have a long tradition of being among the best in the world, which is no secret. According to the 2023 Times Higher Education’s annual World University ranking, 10 Dutch universities were among the top 200. Local rankings are as significant given this high level of reputation. Maastricht University was regarded as the third-best university in the Netherlands in the 2022 Keuzegids Master rankings.

Business School rankings: Financial Times and QS

In recognition of UM’s dedication to improving the world, The Financial Times lauded SBE as one of the best examples of sustainability, ethics, and social purpose in educational processes. Financial Times ranked SBE’s MSc in International Business as the world’s 37th best management master’s program. Financial Times is a more comprehensive ranking that emphasizes alumni feedback and data, internationality, value for money, and the practicality of the degree earned.

The QS Graduate Employability Ranking, a novel initiative designed to give students around the world a unique tool for comparing institution performance in terms of graduate employability results and possibilities, also supported Maastricht University’s stellar reputation for its graduates finding employment after they graduate.

World Accreditations: The Triple Crown

The American AACSB, the British AMBA, and the European-wide EQUIS have all awarded their Triple Crown accreditation to just a select few schools globally. Regarding business school accreditation, these three organizations are the biggest and most prestigious. AMBA explicitly examines all MBA, DBA, and MBM programs. EQUIS examines the general criteria for management education and AACSB offers the broadest perspective on a given institution. The SBE has received recognition from the AACSB in particular for its “remarkably creative teaching methodology” and its employability tactics.
