Must-Try Food Around Maastricht
Sophie Jacobs — December 2022
In this blog, I will talk about my favourite restaurants in Maastricht that you should give a try with your friends and family. This post features the addresses of the restaurants as well as some pictures, price indications and links to their menus. Make sure to save these amazing spots for when you are in town looking for several types of food and want to impress your friends and family!
1. Corner Bakery | Vrijthof 12 | 3–16€
The Corner Bakery is one of my favourite spots in Maastricht to go with my friends. It is right at the Vrijthof so when you sit outside you will have a nice view over the square and the church. Also, the inside of Corner Bakery is decorated super nicely and is highly Instagram-Worthy. Besides that, they have lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well. I would recommend taking the red velvet pancakes as they are delicious, as you can see in the picture. If you want to go crazy, order one of their homemade shakes, which are decorated as true art pieces! If you would like to see some of their meals, please check out their Instagram.
2. Preps | Mariastraat 6A | 7–15€
Preps is a nice place to go for lunch. There is a nice atmosphere where you can relax. They emphasize creating good food with a good ambience. Their smoothie bowls are a must try and they have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. I do recommend making a reservation if you are with more than six people to ensure a place as it is always quite busy.
3. FAB | Markt 6 | 8–24€
FAB, also known as Famous American Bistro, is a perfect place to go for dinner. They are located at the market which gives you again a nice view of Maastricht. Besides that, they serve mini burgers where you can choose between 2 to 5 pieces. Also, they serve homemade drinks which are truly delicious! They also have vegetarian options such as falafel and halloumi burgers. You can make a reservation through Whatsapp and you can check out their Instagram for some more inspiration.
4. Tokyoto | Kesselskade 62 | 21–32€
This one is for my sushi lovers out there! I believe this is my favourite sushi place in Maastricht. It is located close to the river (the Maas), where you can sit outside when the weather is nice. However, the inside of this restaurant is also decorated nicely. They work with the concept ‘All-You-Can-Eat’ where for 2.5 hours you can enjoy an unlimited amount of Japanese dishes.
5. Dadawan | Spoorweglaan 1 | 5–20€
This is an amazing place to eat, they have so many different meals from stone bowls to sushi rolls to burgers. Dadawan is budget friendly for students and they do not take reservations so you can just walk in! They have multiple locations in the Netherlands, so when you are travelling to for instance Eindhoven or Arnhem you can also find them there.
6. Piano B | Tongersestraat 25 | 8-16€
The best pizza in town! A lot of Italian students would say this is the best place to get a real Italian pizza, but go taste it for yourself. It is close to SBE and not far from the city centre. You cannot dine in, but for dinner with fellow students, this is a perfect takeaway place, so definitely give it a try!
I hope to have inspired you with these recommendations. There is such a wide variety of choices for food in Maastricht, I am certain you will find something that suits your taste!
Best wishes,
Sophie
